December 14, 2024, eleven days before Christmas, Koop Farm Factory (KFF) Marikina was blessed and formally launched! Koop Farm Factory-Marikina is a place where our farmer-fisherfolk products are made available for the urban communities. It serves as a central hub where farmers and fisherfolk can bring their produce at a fairer price. It aims to provide comprehensive support which includes but not limited to logistics, warehousing and technical support. By connecting farmers directly to the market, KFF eliminates the need for intermediaries. This means producers get a better price for their produce, and consumers get fresh, locally grown food at a reasonable price. KFF supports and advocates products adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). We support products that are sustainable and environment friendly. Koop Farm Factory-Marikina was conceptualized out of the need of AgriCOOPh, as one of the RUML Project consortium partners, to capture the produce of the farmers in volume. Logistics is always an issue among our producers resorting to selling their produce to traders. The problem of the AgriCOOPh being assigned to the public procurement market, although the volume is big but still its not enough to attain efficiency in terms of logistics. Opening a new market is a logical way to go, buy the product in volume for efficiency, deliver it to the schools and the rest to other market segments in the NCR. AgriCOOPh found a perfect place in the unutilized NFA Warehouse facility in Marikina! The occasion was graced by Fr. Noe of the Parish of Cainta, under the Diocese of Antipolo. RUML partners, ASIADHRRA, FSSI, PHILSSA partner organization UPA, PHILDHRRA and GLOWCORP were present. The consortium was spearheaded by its Chief of Party (COP) Mr. Bernie Berondo. PAKISAMA, the one who gave birth to AgriCOOPh, was also present to witness and to remind why AgriCOOPh was organized. Partners in the government like the National Food Authority (NFA), the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Local Government Unit of Barangay Conception Uno made the occasion more meaningful. KFF espoused meaningful partnership with the government. Our immediate communities, one of the main reasons why KFF was established were also present, making the occasion more relevant. Present during the occasion were representatives from the Marikina Sector Ambulant Vendors Association, Housing Associations, Kailog Consumers Cooperatives, the Urban Poor Association in Metro-Manila and the Most Holy Rosary Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Our pioneering staff who did their best giving birth to KFF Marikina from setting up the systems, to dry run, to the formal launching. From Reverend Father Noe’s words, KFF is both a service and a business. KFF will live by these words. The simple celebration became grandiose with the full presence of our partner communities, partner in the Rural Urban Market Link (RUML) Project and partner in the government! Thank you so much for joining us in this very momentous event! Grow with us!

In today’s post, we want to introduce you to one of our services, the KFF farmers market. At KFF, you can buy mostly pork and chicken, but also different vegetables and other farm products. The idea of a farmers market in Lapu Lapu was initiated by AgriCOOPh during a workshop with four cooperatives: CCCS, CPMPC, LMPC, FCCT. Later on the GCMPC joined the other cooperatives. The idea of KFF was to create a hub for local member farmers to sell their products efficiently. You can visit KFF at Iba, Basak Lapu Lapu City, near Cebu Light, in front of JETTI gas station.
